How the network is organized

Around 1500 organizations and individuals already comprise the network of women for a better world. Any person or organization who shares the objectives of the network can become a member. If you are not a member yet, all you have to do is fill in this form. The profile of our members is diverse, ranging from civil society organizations in Spain and African that work towards women’s empowerment, the fight against gender-based violence, education, the economic and political participation of women, or sexual and reproductive health rights and the fight against AIDS.

Apart from its members, the network has a series of bodies that help her operate effectively. The network has a Technical Secretariat that coordinates all the network’s activities. The Secretariat has two coordinators, one from Africa and the other from Spain.

For the network activities, the Secretariat has the support of the Working Groups. There are five working groups in the areas of Health, Education, Economic Development, Violence, and Empowerment.

The Steering Committee of the network comprises 12 experts in women issues in Africa and Spain (6 from Africa and 6 from Spain). This is the main decision-making body of the network. The Committee approves the work plans of the network and supervises their implementation. The members of the Committee work together with the Secretariat to represent the network. In each Annual Meeting, the Committee presents a report of the activities of the network. The Committee meets at least once a year, before each Annual Meeting.
