Who we are

We are a network of organizations and individuals from civil society that works for women’s empowerment and gender equality. Our network was promoted by the governments of Spain and Mozambique as a result of the Maputo Meeting of African and Spanish Women, which took place on the 7th and 8th March,2006.
Exchanging experiences. .. The network is a forum to exchange experiences, work together and build a true sisterhood of African and Spanish women and, hopefully in the future, women from other parts of the world.
Strengthening the links between partner institutions … The network is a space where all the institutions, organizations, and individual men and women fighting for women’s rights can work together.

Working in key women’s issues...We work where women say it is important to work! The network fights for women’s human rights and to improve women’s condition in Africa and Spain; it promotes peace, democracy and the full exercise of citizenship by women through their participation in public life. It promotes actions to facilitate women’s access to education and health, and to fight AIDS and gender-based violence. We promote a process of gender equitable economic development which recognizes the economic needs, rights and contributions of women.
Giving voice to women…We are, first and foremost, a space for reflection, discussion and dialogue around women’s issues in Africa and the world over.
